MINISTRY & FELLOWSHIP

Our Food Bank is an arm of the Utah Food bank, often serving over 140 families on days we are open for distribution.  Operated completely by volunteers from within St. James and the Community at large, the Food Bank is serves the public on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.  Restocking the shelves with pallets and pallets of food is also done by volunteers the day before.  ​

Volunteers are always welcome!  Anyone can help on restocking days.  Age 16+ can volunteer on distribution days.

It is the mission of our Youth & Family Ministry to nurture Jesus’ passion for children by honoring our children and their families and providing the means to understand our work as Episcopalians and as Christians to share God’s love in our world.  This ministry provides leadership over our (soon to reopen) Nursery, fellowship through social events and service projects, and our Sunday experience for our youth.

Our choir is directed by the talented Seth Bott, master organist with his DMA (Doctorate of Musical Arts) with an emphasis in organ performance and pedagogy.

The choir meets weekly to practice and perform at the 9am Sunday Worship Service.

Camping is a beloved and long-lasting tradition at St. James.  Our parish is full of outdoor lovers, RV trippers, tent campers, and hikers. Twice yearly a St. James camping trip is held in some spot around Utah and typically includes a Worship service in the wilderness.

A volunteer group in our parish whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, altar linens of the parish and altar flowers.  Altar Guild members are usually the first to arrive before worship to prepare the sanctuary for services and the last leave, cleaning and tidying up the altar and sacristy.

A group of men, or those who identify as male, meet weekly on Tuesdays at 8am, to discuss current events, parish happenings, and enjoy a breakfast treat or coffee.  This group is there to support each other through life's ups and downs.  Men's coffee culminates with Morning Prayer.  

A group of the women, or those who identify as female, meet weekly online on Wednesdays at 9am, to find out what is happening in each other's lives and share love.  It's a place to feel connected and pray for members of the parish, chat about anything, and share each other's burdens and joys.

The Garden of Eatin' occupies much of the North side of our property.  It is wholly planted, grown and harvested by volunteers.   During the gardening months on the Wasatch front you will often see a parishioner out in the garden weeding, harvesting, and watering our bounty.  It's a true labor of love.  The food grown goes to feed our Food Bank patrons.

An important part of our connection to our Community is the physical building that is St. James Episcopal Church.   We make the building available to many groups to rent for one time meetings, fundraisers and weekly meeting.  It can be meeting room, a class room, a lecture hall, an entertainment place, a medieval battleground, a car show and more.   Most of all, it is a safe place.  We are blessed to have such a space, and fortunate to be able to share it.
