Rector Search Committee Deep Into Next Stage of Search
By Steve Allnatt, Search Committee Vice Chair
The recent quiet of St. James’ Rector Search Committee could be very misleading, the group’s chairperson reported this week.
“We have been quite busy reviewing resumes and applications, watching videos of candidate sermons and interviewing a candidate that has passed all the initial screenings,” Kari Butler explained. “So far, three candidates have received serious study and consideration” she added, “and one promising applicant received a second interview this week.”
Kari reported that the parish is 11 months into the process and that would be considered standard - or even a little ahead of schedule - for this kind of endeavor when compared with other Episcopal parishes similarly engaged.
“In some ways I wish the process could be more open to parishioners,” Kari said, “because it would offer an opportunity for everyone to see how seriously, diligently and comprehensively the committee approaches each task along the way. I think the members of St. James would be very impressed by these representatives of the parish.” Kari also mentioned that while considering privacy and professional standards we want to be as open and transparent as possible.
“We are sharing all we are allowed to share and we thank everyone for their understanding and their support,” she said.
